Everything you need to know about purebred Siberian kittens, hypoallergenic qualities, health testing, delivery, and the SiberianSnow adoption process.
Bringing home a Siberian kitten is a long-term commitment, and we want every family to feel fully informed before they take that step. Below you'll find honest answers to the questions families most often ask our cattery, from purebred lineage and hypoallergenic qualities to health testing, delivery, and life after adoption.
If you don't see your question here, reach out to Hannah directly, we're always happy to talk Siberians.
Yes. As a TICA registered Siberian cat breeder in Texas, every kitten we place is 100% purebred with documented lineage from champion European bloodlines (Russia and Finland). Each kitten goes home with TICA registration papers confirming pedigree. Learn more about our program
Siberians produce significantly less Fel d 1 protein (the main cat allergen) than typical breeds, so many people with mild to moderate cat allergies tolerate them well. Mark, my husband, was severely allergic before our first Siberian, he now lives happily alongside eight of them. No cat is 100% hypoallergenic, so we always recommend visiting in person, or requesting a hair sample, to test your reaction before reserving. Read our full allergy guide
Siberians are gentle, affectionate, intelligent, and famously dog-like in their loyalty. They follow their humans from room to room, often play fetch, learn their names quickly, and greet visitors at the door. They're calm and dignified, yet remain playful well into adulthood.
Siberians are a medium-to-large breed. Adult males typically weigh 15-20 pounds and females 10-15 pounds, reaching their full size at around 4-5 years of age.
TICA (The International Cat Association) is one of the world's largest genetic cat registries. Our TICA registration means we are recognized breeders following TICA standards, and your kitten ships with official pedigree papers documenting their lineage.
A non-refundable Waiting List Deposit secures your spot. When a litter is born we contact families in deposit order so you can select an available kitten. Average wait is 2-4 months depending on litter timing. Join the waiting list
Waiting List: secures your priority for future litters, ideal if you're flexible on timing and want first choice of upcoming kittens.
Reservation: a Reservation Deposit holds a specific available kitten you've already chosen, taking that kitten off the market for you.
Kittens go home between 12 and 14 weeks. This extra time with mom and littermates is critical for socialization, immune development, and confident behavior in their new home. The wait is worth it.
Yes, by appointment. We welcome visits so you can meet our adult cats, observe kitten temperaments, and test your allergy response in person. Visits are scheduled to keep the cattery calm for the kittens. Schedule a visit
Deposits are non-refundable, because we turn away other families when we hold a kitten or waiting-list spot for you. If your circumstances change, we are happy to credit your deposit toward a future kitten instead of issuing a refund.
Each kitten goes home with TICA registration papers, complete vet records, a 2-year health guarantee, microchip, current vaccinations, spay/neuter, a starter bag of their current food, a care guide, and lifetime breeder support from Hannah. See the full adoption process
All breeding cats undergo annual HCM cardiac screening by a board-certified feline cardiologist, genetic panel testing for PKD and other conditions, and FeLV/FIV testing. Every kitten receives multiple vet exams, age-appropriate FVRCP vaccinations, complete deworming, microchipping, and spay/neuter. Each kitten goes home with full health records and a 2-year genetic health guarantee. Read our full health guarantee
We feed Royal Canin kitten formula as the primary diet, supplemented with a raw food rotation. Your kitten goes home with their current food and a feeding guide. Always transition slowly over 7-10 days if you decide to switch brands.
Weekly brushing is usually sufficient, with daily brushing during spring and fall shedding seasons. The Siberian triple coat doesn't mat as easily as Persian or Maine Coon fur. Add routine nail trims and ear checks and you're set, most Siberians actually enjoy being brushed. See our complete care guide
Yes. We deliver across Texas and ship safely to all 50 states. Local Texas families can pick up in Galveston or arrange a meet-up in Houston. Out-of-state families can fly in to collect their kitten or use a professional flight nanny who carries the kitten in-cabin. We never ship kittens as cargo.
A vetted flight nanny boards a commercial flight with your kitten in an airline-approved carrier under the seat in front of them. They feed, water, and care for your kitten throughout the journey and hand them to you at the arrival airport. It's the safest air-travel option for kittens.
Absolutely, in-person pickup is our favorite option. You're welcome to fly into Houston or Galveston and collect your kitten. We'll happily meet you at the airport and send you home with everything you need.
Yes. Every SiberianSnow family receives lifetime breeder support. Hannah is available for nutrition, behavior, and health questions for the life of your cat, and many of our families stay in touch for years.
Yes. Siberians are patient with children and adapt well to dogs and other cats when introduced properly. Our kittens are raised underfoot with our own children and our golden retriever, so they arrive already socialized to family chaos.
You'll want kitten food (we'll recommend brands), food and water bowls, a litter box and kitten-safe litter, a scratching post, interactive toys, a comfortable bed, and a secure carrier. Kitten-proof your home by securing wires and small hazards, and set up a calm room where your kitten can settle in for the first few days. Full new-kitten checklist
